You know the feeling. One week you’re finishing 18 in golden light. The next, hole 12 is already a silhouette and your putter looks like a rumor. That’s when glow season starts — not a sanctioning body, not a points series, just the shared decision that shorter days don’t get to cancel the round.
Glow golf is half sport, half campfire. Charged discs hang in the air like slow comets. Baskets wear tape that looks ridiculous in daylight and perfect after dark. Somebody always forgets batteries. Somebody always has extras. Cards move a little slower, laugh a little louder, and the woods feel bigger when you can only see twenty feet of fairway at a time.
Lexington: Shillito roots, Halloween glow
Ask a Bluegrass player about night golf and Shillito Park usually comes up first. The course has a long glow footprint — a UDisc league page still carries the Shillito Glow name, and Shillito was one of the rotating stops for BDGA’s No Nightlight Glow Flex through the winter of 2024–25 (alongside Veterans, Falling Springs, and Riney B). As of this draft, Disc Golf Scene and UDisc don’t list a fresh 2026 Shillito glow league on the board — so treat the park as a known Lexington glow home base and watch bdga.org/events and UDisc for whatever nights land this fall.
What is locked on the calendar: BDGA’s Halloween double at River Hill Park on Friday, Oct 23 — Haunted Hill Throw & Treat (5:45–7:00 PM) into Throw & Glow at 7:45 PM. Candy for the kids, charged plastic for the dark. Same park, same night. Details live on our events page and on UDisc.
Frankfort: Glo Thro and Friday lights
Capital-city night golf has a name with history: Glo Thro (you’ll also see it spelled Glo Throw in casual chatter). Frankfort Disc Golf Association’s unsanctioned glow round at East Frankfort Park is on the fall slate for Oct 24. Start time isn’t posted yet — pack batteries, check frankfortdga.com and the FrankfortDG Facebook closer to the date, and expect the usual EFP vibe: canopy fairways, short pins, and a lot of glowing midranges hunting the same gaps you grind in daylight.
Between the big night and the next one, Frankfort’s newer toy stays lit weekly. Frankfort DGA has been promoting a Friday Night Glow Pitch & Putt League at the Bomb Discs pitch-and-putt beside Rocky’s / Buena Vista — roughly 7–11 PM every Friday. UDisc lists the nine-holer as illuminated for night play, free to throw, with a year-round pay-to-play league option. It’s the low-commitment glow night: ace runs, cold drinks, and a warm-up (or cool-down) after a lap on the big Buena Vista 18.

Louisville’s Derby City doubles nights have used Iroquois Park’s named 20 Hole Layout (Glow) on UDisc league cards earlier in 2026 — check their schedule if you’re hunting metro night rounds. Know a standing glow night in Bowling Green or elsewhere in Kentucky? Tip us and we’ll add it.
How to show up ready
Glow discs (or tape), a UV charger, spare batteries, a light you won’t shine down the fairway while someone else throws, and patience for slower cards. Respect posted park hours, keep the volume neighborly, and leave the place cleaner than you found it — night golf only stays welcome when the neighbors don’t have to ask why the woods are blinking.
